Julie Logue
Diabetes Specialist Midwife
Whittington Health NHS Trust
Julie is currently the lead midwife in diabetes at Whittington Health, a service she set up from scratch in 2003 when it was recognised by the multi professional team that women with diabetes needed a named midwife. Since then she has been involved with the RCM in defining the role of the lead midwife in diabetes and developing the job description, as over the years these roles developed but there was no common standards to guide midwives to the role.
Julie works with our diabetes and obstetric consultants, diabetes nurse and dietician to review and develop Whittington Health’s services. The hospital has a weekly combined clinic and she also runs daily midwifery clinics to see women for follow up. She participates in the pre-conception group sessions run as a team. She and her team also participate in the National Diabetes in Pregnancy audit run nationally and complete the data collection.
